5 Spray Paint Projects
5 easy DIY projects you can do in your home using spray paint!
The easiest way to update your home decor on a budget is to use items you already own and give them a fresh new look with spray paint.
1. Light Fixtures - This could be chandeliers, sconces, flush mount ceiling lights, and even lamps. I recently spray painted an old chandelier that was in our dining room and it totally transformed the look of the light and the room. Make sure you can safely remove the light fixture, tape or covers areas you don’t want to paint, and use a quality paint+primer spray paint made for the material you are painting. I personally like using Krylon Fusion spray paints.
2. Vases - I have painted so many vases in my home. Some were vases I already owned and some were vases I picked up at the thrift store. You can even get creative and try some textured spray paints like the stone texture kind.
3. Furniture & Hardware - Spray painting furniture is an easy way to give a space in your home an upgrade. I have spray painted nightstands, end tables, chairs and more! You will want to make sure the piece of furniture is very clean and will want to make sure you use a paint+primer spray paint. Also, spray painting the hardware on the furniture can give the piece a whole new look. Check out all the metallic spray paints that are available. Some additional creative ideas for furniture are to try painting only the legs, only the drawer fronts, and using a stencil in your makeover.
4. Mirrors - I have seen so many mirrors at thrift stores that I wish I had grabbed and transformed. I am loving the golds and bronze spray paints on the market and they are a great way to give a mirror a brand new look. Last year I even painted an old cane mirror using a tan color on the cane and black spray paint on the frame of the mirror.
5. Picture Frames & Decor - Spray painting picture frames and decor has been something I have been doing a lot of lately. Specifically frames and decor I have found at thrift stores. I recently spray painted a couple large picture frames and put new art in them that I ordered off Etsy and they looked like high-end art that I paid thousands for! When thrifting for frames and decor, don’t pay attention to the current color of them. Instead, consider their shape and imagine them with a coat of paint on them and I bet you can find some unique finds!
