How to Install Wall Tile Using Musselbound Adhesive

Here is an easy, beginner-friendly way to install backsplash or wall tile!

We have been renovating our laundry room over the past few weeks and I ended up deciding that I wanted to do a tile backsplash behind the washer and dryer. I did a little research and found what I think is the easiest way to install wall tile.

There are two key products that I used that really made this project so easy and virtually mess-free. The first product is MusselBound which is a double-sided tile adhesive mat. I did a lot of research on this product before using it, including reading reviews, watching YouTube videos, and asking people who recently shared this method. Everything I read was positive and so I decided to give it a try. It really was easy to use and the adhesive is unbelievable strong! Once you press it against your wall, there is no pulling it off or removing it. The same is true for the tile. I tried pulling a tile off the mat after I pressed it on and could not pull it off. I loved this method because I did not have to use any messy mortar on the wall or have to worry about the tiles sliding or shifting on the wall.

The second tool that made this project so easy was this handheld glass/tile cutter tool. It only cuts straight cuts which was all I needed for my type of tile. You simply mark the tile where you want to cut, roll the roller blade back and fourth with even force over your mark, then use the pressure tool to snap the tile along your mark. This tool worked so well for me and was also virtually mess-free. I have used tile saws and other expensive cutters in the past and this hand-held tool is by far my favorite method for cutting tile. I still can’t believe the kit was only $22!
