We bought a camper!

Now let me tell you why…

My husband and I have really wanted to get into investment properties - either rental properties or flips. The real estate market in Florida is absolutely crazy right now with prices at record highs so it’s just not a smart time to buy real estate. (I am a real estate agent if you didn’t know and even I can’t find any great investment deals!). So still wanting to scratch that investment itch, we did a little research on other options and decided to get a camper that we could rent out nightly as a vacation rental. Think AirBnB but for camping! Did you know there was such a thing?!

Well there is! Websites like Outdoorsy and RVShare are a rental platform just like AirBnB where people rent out their campers by the night, weekend, or week. The renters can choose between coming and picking the camper up themselves and taking it to their destination or they can request that we take it and set it up at their preferred campsite (for an additional fee).

We bought a Forest River Wolf Pup 16BHS which has an overall length of 22’ and can be pulled by any truck, midsize SUV or minivan.

This camper is in really good shape (its a 2021) but we do have quite a few plans for some upgrades and unique designs that we want to add to the interior. We want to add a lot of character to the interior as well as add a lot of special features so that campers will be excited to stay in it. I will be sharing all the camper projects on my Instagram and on my YouTube channel so stay tuned for that. I also plan to be an open book about this new endeavor and will be sharing all the details about the investment side of things - what we spend, what we rent it out for, and when we start making a profit. I hope you guys will follow along with me on this new adventure!

Here are some of the plans we have for the interior:

  • Painting all the walls white to brighten it up.

  • Potentially painting the cabinets (still deciding…).

  • Adding a backsplash to the kitchen and bathroom (peel and stick most likely).

  • Adding some wallpaper to a couple small walls.

  • New window treatments.

  • New bedding, cushions covers and more!
