New Kitchen Door

WITH EIGHTDOORS

Our kitchen remodel was our biggest renovation in this home and in true DIY fashion, we left the last 5% of the remodel lingering. Now over a year and a half down the road, we are finally tackling the final details that will finish the remodel. The door leading to our garage was the last thing we needed to complete and in perfect timing, EightDoors had reached out to me offering me one of their high-quality doors.

Their website has so many options ranging from traditional style doors, barn doors, bifold doors and more. I wanted something with some character so I went with their 3 Panel Shaker Primed Door. It was shipped to us in just a couple days which was really impressive and it was packaged very securely to ensure it arrived undamaged.

We live in an old home and we have already discovered that the walls and ceilings throughout our home are not perfect. As expected, this doorway did not have perfect angles so we had to do a little trimming on the door before installing it. Using a saw sled and our circular saw, we trimmed both the bottom and the left side of the door.

The existing hinges were in good shape so we decided to keep them. We did a mortise cut on the door where the hinges would go using our multi-tool and a chisel and hammer. Once the door was hung we used a door handle installation kit to install the door handle. This kit made it simple to align and drill the holes that were needed for the door handle. A nice feature is that this door came already primed so all I had to do was paint it with a final coat of paint. I went with white paint to match our kitchen cabinets.

We were really impressed with our entire experience with EightDoors and would highly recommend them. Their customer service was very helpful when we were deciding which door to order. My husband and I were very impressed with the quality of this door. It is solid wood, built extremely well, and has a timeless design that matches our style perfectly. Their website is easy to use and they offer a ton of design options to fit any style. We really liked that their doors are sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s, and on Wayfair. They have now become our go-to brand for all our future door needs!
