Guest Bedroom Essentials

Whether you are planning for family to stay, hosting an AirBnB or vacation rental, or you just want your guest bedroom to feel like home, this list of essentials will do the trick. I have put together a list of what I think are the best features and essentials for any guest bedroom!

Guest Bedroom Features and Essentials Checklist:

1. Fan - This can be a ceiling fan or pedestal fan. Either way, there is nothing worst than sweating while trying to sleep. A fan will allow your guests to stay cool and circulate some air while they sleep. Here is my favorite ceiling fan and pedestal fan.

2. Soft, quality bedding - There is nothing better than sliding into a soft, comfortable bed. Soft, quality bedding can ensure your guests will get a great night sleep. I also include a lighter blanket on the end of the bed in case the comforter is too heavy for our guests. I have been loving these sheets.

3. Bedside alarm clock - I think it is nice to have a small alarm clock on one of the nightstands for guests. Guests can always glance over at the time while they are sleeping, or use the alarm feature if they want to wake up early. I like this alarm clock because it has built-in USB ports which allows guests to plug in their phone chargers too.

4. Extra phone chargers - There is nothing worse than traveling and realizing you have forgotten to bring your phone charger. I like to include this phone charger in our guest bedroom that has multiple ends on it for different cell phone types.

5. Jewelry or trinket dish - It’s nice to give guests a place to put their jewelry or coins so there is no chance of them losing them while they visit. I think this gold leaf trinket dish is perfect.

6. Bedside lamps or sconces - Sometimes its nice in the morning or right before bed to have just the lamps on instead of the bright ceiling light. Lamps are also nice for guests if they like to read or scroll on their phone before bed. We have these lamps in our guest bedroom.

7. Garment rack - I absolutely love this garment rack that we have in our guest bedroom. It has a bar for people to hang clothes on, has a large shelf at the bottom for guests to put their luggage on, and also has several smaller shelves where I can put storage baskets or decor.

8. Full length mirror - Guests want to be able to see themselves getting ready or after they are dressed just like they would do at home. I have this floor length mirror mounted on the wall in our guest bedroom.

9. Nightlight - This is very helpful in the event that someone wakes in the middle of the night and needs to find the bathroom. We have been using these nightlights for over 5 years and love them!

10. Blackout curtains - Usually guests like to sleep in a bit when they are traveling or on vacation. These blackout shades let them keep the room dark if they choose.

11. Extra Toiletries - I fill a basket with some travel size toiletries for my guests. Some of the items I include are chapstick, lotion, sanitizing wipes, toothpicks, makeup removing wipes, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, mouthwash, and medicines. I keep them in this basket.

12. A fragrant scent - I love having the guest bedroom smelling wonderfully right when guests arrive. I typically like to burn a candle in the room before they arrive. I have also used these scented plug-ins which are not too overpowering.

I think with this list you can ensure your guests will have a relaxing and enjoyable time while visiting. Now who’s ready to host some guests?!
