DIY Budget Bathroom Makeover for $300
Thank you Lowe’s for sponsoring this project!
Our guest bathroom is original and straight out of the 1970’s. Besides the chevron accent wall and floating shelves I added, we haven’t done any updating to this space. One day we do plan to do a full gut and bathroom renovation but until then, I wanted to give this bathroom a quick and easy refresh while trying to only spend a few hundred dollars. My goal was to makeover this bathroom with only $300. Can we do it?
The very first thing I did in the bathroom was scrub the original green floor tile. The grout was so dirty and stained so I tried a powerful grout cleaner and was shocked at how well it worked. With just some light scrubbing on the grout with the cleaner, the grout was bright white again. Next I removed the large mirror on the wall since I had plans to replace it with something smaller and more stylish.
I know paint can dramatically change the look and feel of a room but since this is a small bathroom, I decided I would go for even more impact by using wallpaper. I found 3 beautiful peel-and-stick wallpapers at Lowe’s and ultimately decided to go with the Green Juniper Forest Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper. The wallpaper both looked and felt high-quality and I love how the dark blue contrasts with the light green shower tile. The benefit of peel-and-stick wallpaper is how we will be able to enjoy the new look of the bathroom but will also be able to easily remove it in the future when we decide to eventually do a full remodel. With the wallpaper up, I hung the new gold mirror and was so excited to add the other gold accents to the room!
The next high-impact upgrade I decided on was replacing the sink faucet with a modern and budget-friendly brass faucet from Lowe’s. Replacing faucets and fixtures in a bathroom is an inexpensive upgrade that can change the entire look and feel of a space. I decided to go with brass which added even more style to the bathroom and helped the faucet stand out against the new wallpaper. Since it was the same size as the old one, it was a very easy install and it made such a big difference. I also replaced the vanity hardware with new brass pulls and knobs from Lowe’s to match the new faucet.
An easy way to make an outdated bathroom feel fresh again is to replace the shower curtain. I found an affordable brass curtain rod, brass rings, and a new shower curtain all from Lowe’s that really brought the whole room together. I chose a neutral shower curtain without a pattern so it wouldn’t compete with the wallpaper.
At this point, I was on to the finishing touches and really felt like something was missing above the toilet. So I shopped around for something to fill the empty space and found this gorgeous wall shelf to go above the toilet. The brass shelves looked amazing against the wallpaper and gave me just a bit of extra storage for a few bathroom essentials.
All in, I spent $317.39 on the upgrades and I have to say that this space feels like a whole new bathroom. We have been doing so many major renovations in our home this past year so being able to tackle a quick and budget-friendly makeover brought me so much joy. My goal was to find high-quality products that didn’t break our budget and Lowe’s had so many options for me to choose from. I think this bathroom proves that you don’t need to demolish a room or spend a fortune to transform the look of a space in your home!
