Guest Bedroom Makeover

boho beach resort bedroom

If you have been following me on Instagram for any amount of time, you know that I thrive when I am in the middle of a project (or two). I had so much fun with my son’s bedroom makeover and so I decided our guest bedroom needs a facelift too and I am jumping right into it! It is currently a completely blank space with white walls and zero decor. I have BIG plans for this room and am taking a big step outside my comfort zone with the overall design of this space!

This is the bedroom that my parents sleep in when they stay with us and they definitely deserve a better space. I wanted this makeover to be inspired by them and their love for the beach. The beach/coastal style is totally out of my comfort zone so I actually asked a local interior designer who happens to be a good friend of mine for some help in designing this space. With her help, we have decided to go with a ‘boho beach resort’ feel for this room with a nod to the things my parents love - palm trees and seashells!

My friend, Kim Griffith with Home with Kim Griffith, came up with an incredible mood board that perfectly captured the feel I was going for. I want this space to remind my parents of the beach without being so literal. Below I am sharing the initial 3D room rendering that Kim and I came up with. This initial design is just with white walls but we do plan to use a BOLD color on the walls. We have narrowed it down to a couple wall paint colors but haven’t made a final decision. I plan to ask my Instagram followers for help on picking the right color.

Join me on Instagram over the next week as I start this room makeover. There will be an easy accent wall and some DIY wall decor that I am really excited to get started on. I also plan to do some thrift shopping and find some unique items to incorporate into the design. I’d love to hear what you guys think of this design?!
